stimulate your senses !
this time around, we were instructed to go down to another science lab at level one. here we don't have much computers but it has several probes from microcomputer-based laboratory (MBL) which we have discussed on the previous week.
there are various type of sensors, including; light sensor, temperature sensor, motion sensor, force sensor, magnetic field sensor, barometer sensor, pH sensor and heart rate sensor.
for our group, we have tried out the light sensor. for this sensor, it can measure the illuminance in units of lux. we tried out using the lab's light and also phone's light and we could see the differences in the graph.
suitable for primary school?

into the paradigm !
constructivist and behaviourist
on the fourth week, we were exposed to these theories, which we are very familiar with during our previous years of study.
learning through behaviours means learners are actively imitating and practising the new knowledge or skills. it focuses more on the product or the outcome of the learning whether learners have achieved the input and practically putting it into action. behaviourist is more likely to be teacher-centred, learners are given stimuli and they need to practise and imitate to acquire them.
while constructivist believes that learners have potential in constructing their own knowledge, assisted by their previous or background knowledge and this is what they called student-centred. in science class, there are experiments and this is how students discover new knowledge and acquire scientific and manipulative skills as well.
the 'world-wide-web' or WWW provides thousands of interactive technology-based learning and they have both applied constructivist and behaviourist theories. it is up to the students and teachers in integrating technologies in learning, as a matter of fact, it should already be done by everyone because the internet and other source of technologies promote interactive and fun learning thus students can be easily engaged in learning without feeling bored.
